New Covenant

Jeremiah 31:31-34 (NIV)

"The time is coming," declares the Lord, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them," declares the Lord.

"This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the Lord. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the Lord. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

The Lord says "I was a husband to them." What is the Church's relationship to Christ? His bride.

The Old Covenant was written in stone. Where were the tablets of stone placed? In the Ark of the Covenant. And where was it placed? In the Most Holy Place of the Temple. Why was it the most holy place? Because God dwelt there. What does God write the New Covenant on? Our hearts. And where is our heart? In our innermost being. Who is supposed to be dwelling there? The Holy Spirit of God. That makes a New Testament Christian the Temple of God.

There is only one way to know the Lord, that is through the forgiveness of sins. It is sin that separates us from the Lord. How do you receive this forgiveness?

Hebrews 9:15 (NIV)

For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance--now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

Is He calling you? Can you feel Him tugging on your heart? If He is, don't delay, you may receive the forgiveness of sins by putting your faith in Jesus Christ.

Galatians 2:16a (NIV)

Know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ.
