Luke 19:42-44 (NKJV)
"If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation."
Jesus had just made his triumphal entry into Jerusalem and you would think he would have been pleased, after all the people were praising Him. But Jesus was lamenting over what he could see would happen in a few years. Jerusalem was leveled by the Romans under Titus in 70 AD. Jesus said to Jersualem, "You did not know the time of your visitation." How sad, He had come for them as the Messiah yet they did not recognize Him as such. Daniel's 70 week prophecy in chapter nine, clearly delineated the exact time that the Messiah would be "cut off." They should have been able to calculate the time.
Today, we see signs of the end times. We can't calculate the time of His return but we can know that "when you see these things" the time is near. Jesus wept that Jerusalem was not ready for him. Are you ready for Him?
