Leviticus 7:37-38 (NKJV)

This is the law of the burnt offering, the grain offering, the sin offering, the trespass offering, the consecrations, and the sacrifice of the peace offering, which the Lord commanded Moses on Mount Sinai, on the day when He commanded the children of Israel to offer their offerings to the Lord in the Wilderness of Sinai.

These verses summarize the seven preceding chapters of the details God had given to Moses regarding the ordinances of sacrifice. By the length of the passage and by the minute details we know that this must be very important to God.

The laws concerning the sacrifices of the Old Testament all paint a picture of the perfect sacrifice of God the Son, Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 9:12-14 (NKJV)

Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
