Acts 5:3-4 (NIV)

Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God."

I am struck by this verse not so much because of the story it tells of a deceptive couple in the church, but rather what it indirectly says about the Holy Spirit. Ananias lied to the Holy Spirit. Then this is restated later to say that he lied to God. This clearly equates the Holy Spirit with God. There are a number of people who speak against the Trinity because the word is not found in the Bible. But the idea is certainly there. It is easy to find how Jesus and God are one in the same essence but this rather obscure verse does the same for the Holy Spirit.
